Defemation of Character

As a manager, a staff employee who is going out in the community on work time and is causing harm to my name, reputation and character. Do I have grounds to sue for damages?

If you can prove that what is said is false and is actually causing financial harm you may well have a case. There also may be evidence which would justify termination of the employee. Without more information any response to your question is nothing more than a guess.
