If you have a legal guardian besides a parent, they can do this for you. Are you an "emancipated minor?" There is a legal process that one can use to have the courts declare that you are emancipated, although that might not remove the disability you have legally -- that disability being that any contracts you sign (including settlement agreements) are voidable by you when you turn 18. As a result, the insurance companies usually will NOT pay to a minor directly without SOME adult who has some legal relationshipo to you to take responsiblity.
