Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Oregon

Adding Husband to Property Deed - Which type of form?

I am a home owner, and I am the sole person on the Deed to the property. I am interested in adding my husband to the deed, in case something should ever happen to me. I have been told where to find the forms, but no one will tell me which type of "deed form" I need to use. (Everyone is scared of legal action I guess). There are about 20 different forms used for different needs and deeds. I just need to file a new deed with both of our names on it. Which one?????

Re: Adding Husband to Property Deed - Which type of form?

Before deteriming what deed you need to transfer an interest in your house to a spouse, you need to examine why you are making

such a transfer and whether putting the spouse on the deed is the appropriate action. There can be tax and inheritance

ramifications to such an action. Even how the names are put on the deed may have ramifications. This explains

why no one would tell you which deed form to use.

You should understand that there are also other ways to make a transfer at death if that is your main concern.

Our office does a low cost ($35) initial consultation in matters such as yours. If you ultimately decide that

deeding the house to your husband that can be done quickly and inexpensively. Please

give us a call.
