breking lease agreement

I was told that if you purchase a house you would be able to break your leaseing contract without penalty. Is this true?

Re: breking lease agreement

There is no law in Oregon that would permit a tenant to break a lease without penalty if that tenant buys a house.

Such a right might be part of a rental agreement, but unless it is part of your contract with your landlord, you will have no such right.

The landlord does have a responsibility to reasonably try to rent your apartment to mitigate the damages, but if the landlord is unable to find a replacment tenant, then you will be liable to pay the rents for the entire term of your rental agreement.
