Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Oregon

Notice of termination

Today (02/19/02) I was served with a ''Notice of Termination'' (the ''30 day notice''). However; the date they have filled in to vacate is long before 30 days (03/02/02).

Does this notice have any validity at all? How an when should I bring it to the landlord's attention that the notice is filled out incorrectly?

I am persuing other living arrangemets and will certainly need more time than is on the notice.

Thank you.

Re: Notice of termination

A 30 Day notice to Vacate that does not give a tenant at least 30 days to leave is not valid.

There is no requirement that a tenant notify a landlord that a notice is invalid. If you notify your landlord that the notice is invalid, all he or she needs to do is serve a new one with the correct time period.
