Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Oregon

time frame for filing a suit

I am being sued for a incident that happened in the fall of 1999, and I was wondering if it is past the time frame that they have to sue me. Today is the first day that I know of that they have tried to contact me. This incident involved no personal injury only property damage.

Re: time frame for filing a suit

In Oregon the statute of limitations for "torts", which are wrongs by one person against another, is generally two years. There are, however, various exceptions to this general rule. Your question does not give enough information to ascertain whether any of these exceptions might apply.

Our office offers a low cost initial consultation to review these issues. Please give us a call. Since you are already being sued, you should be aware that you have a short period of time to respond to the suit, so you should consult an attorney promptly.
