Legal Question in Traffic Law in Oregon

I am being charged with possession of marijuana in the state of Oregon.

I was searched for weapons and the officer pulled out a soft pouch with a pipe and small amount of an untested substance the officer thought was marijuana. No evidence was taken and was destroyed.

Do I have a case? If so what should I say in court? If convicted will this be on my permanent record? Will it effect my student loans?

You should talk in person to a lawyer experienced in criminal defense. Leland Berger is very experienced in these types of cases. John Lucy IV is also a good choice. For either one, at least set up a short telephone interview, possibly for free, and see where you stand. Good luck to you, -- Sam
