Legal Question in Traffic Law in Oregon
''running red light''
I was given a citation for running a red light in a small Oregon town by a policeman travelling in the same direction, half a block ahead. He would have had to spot the violation while driving and looking at his rear-view mirror. In fact, I believe he was alerted by a municipal vehicle that was driving parallel to me.
Because I am vacationing here I would have to return to appeal. Should I?

Re: ''running red light''
You can enter a not guilty plea by mail. Don't give up your right to have a trial. It's not the fine that hurts so much, it's the increased insurance premiums you risk. Hire a lawyer. Quite often, the cop doesn't show up at trial so the court must dismiss the citation. I'm in Salem but from your listed zipcode, I'd recommend Attorney Peter Carini in Medford 541-734-7001.
