Legal Question in Veterans Law in Oregon
While in the military my spouse deserted me with our children. When I sought help from the military (chaplain, mental health, commanger), I was given the diagnosis of personality disorder and told that I was beyond any help. A little later I was discharged with an honorable discharge. I feel I was misdiagnosed (my current psyshiatrist agrees) and I should be compensated (after my discharge I struggled with depression for several years). Do I have a reasonable claim?

Yes. You should file a claim as soon as possible for service connection for a "mental disorder." If your current doctor agrees, you should get (and submit) an opinion to that effect from that doctor noting that your current diagnosis is the same condition that began in service. Good luck.
