Re: debts

You are only responsible to pay your deceased mother's debts to the extent that you received money or property from her.

For example, you inherit a bank account worth $5,000 and she owes debts of $2,000. You must pay her creditor the $2,000. But, if you receive a bank account worth $2,000 and she has debts of $5,000, you still only have to pay the $2,000.
