Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Oregon

Dying without a will

My mom recently passed away and didn't have a will. She wasn't married and all of her belongings are in the home she shared with her boyfriend. He is not allowing us to retrieve her things and even stated that he sold the car that was registered in her name. Is there any type of legal action I can take to try to get my mom's belongings?

Re: Dying without a will

If your mother died as a WA resident you can file probate in WA in the county in which she resided. If she was a resident of OR you should get the opinion of an OR attorney.
