Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Oregon

trust fund

my aunt left me some money when I

was about 8, she died. My dad was in

charge of it. He said it is in a trust

fund, then last year he said he

moved my money to a mutual fund.

He won't tell me how much money I

have and says I don't deserve it

because I am not religious. How can I

find out where my money is and how

can I get it. It is under my name and

SSN. I live in Trinidad, CA he lives in

springfield, OR. I think it is

somewhere in OR. I'm not sure.

Re: trust fund

You haven't given us enough information. How old are you? Do you know where (in what state) you aunt lived when she died? Whether she had a will or a living trust? Whether you dad holds your inheritance as Trustee or as Custodian of a Uniform Transfer to Minors Account? If he is your trustee, you are entitled to request an accounting and for a copy of the terms of the trust. If it is a custodial account, he has to distribute the money to you when you reach 18, 21 or 25, depending on how it was set up in the first place. In no circumstances would he be able to withold your money because he doesn't agree with you about religion. You need an attorney, but I don't know in what state.
