dear sir,

i want to know the status of valuables i.e. jewellry items given by husband after divorce..

i have heard from people that after one year these valuables come under possesion of wife..

Secondly i got divorced after an year and had left all the jewellry in lahore including mine and those given by my inlaws..now my husband saying that its not there and is not giving all my dowry items back..n i have also no prove that i didnt brought them. what shud i do in that case

the jewellry items given by husband are gift and in case of divorce the said gift stays with woman. Even Almighty Allah in Holy Book had directed that after divorce it will be Ahsan if the gift of divorce are given to woman.

You can file a suit for return of dowry articles and jewelry and dower amount and iddat period expenses if the said are not received by you. You will need witnesses who can tesify in court that when you were divorced you left the house or arrive at your parents house without jewellry.
