when the written statement from the defendant is filed , on one date of hearing an opportunity will be provided to the parties to reconciliate, if no reconciliation then parties have to lead their respective evidence.

If the case is regarding KHULA only then there is no such need to file a written statement as now a days first date is fix for reconciliation and if same is failed the court is bound to decree the suit straightaway.
