Legal Question in Family Law in Pakistan

I heard that delay in lodging FIR is not fatal in the eyes of law/court in matrimonial cases. is it true?

delay in FIR is good ground only, if the delay is explained to the satisfaction of court then it did't matter much.as in matrimonial cases also.
