Legal Question in Family Law in Pakistan
Can a piece of land or a building be stipulated as dower (mehr) in a marriage contract? If yes than if it is deferred, wife is entitled to receive it after death or divorce by husband? Guide please.

Yes it can be stipulated as mehr in the Nikahnama (Muslim Marriage Contract). Wife can receive it soon after marriage or at any time during the matrimonial life. If she does not take during her matrimonial life with husband then she is entitled to receive it in full after divorce or death of husband. It is a kind of loan on husband as long as he does not pay.
