Personal law is applied to specific class of people only. Where Personal Law is available, application of General Law remains inoperative.

Personal Law is made in accordance to the faiths of specific class of people/religion to satisfy them.

Islamic Personal Law meant to Muslims only which is enacted in accordance to Muslim Rites.

in fact by the term personal or private law, and private international law ... actually refers to the specific norms ,traditions and religious based law practiced by the different sects in a country or by the ethnic groups or by the minorties in a country , for the matters specific to certain issues despite the freedom of practicing the general law of the land ,in broad perspective.
