Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Pennsylvania

bankruptcy or default

I am considering bankruptcy as I am unable to pay my bills. I do not understand the difference between bankruptcy and default. I do not own any property, receive social security disability but have high credit card and car payments I cannot make.

Re: bankruptcy or default

You may be better off not filing a bankruptcy. Creditors cannot attach your social security. As far as the car payments, I would make those before the credit card payments. You may have defenses to the credit card companies, especially if they are old. If you can't afford the car payments, though, you may have to give up the car.
