recently divorced and left in debt i can never pay, can i go bankrupt even if i own my home?

Yes, although it is necessary to evaluate the situation. There are 2 main factors in deciding whether to recommend filing: income and assets.

If your income is below a certain level you qualify with no other questions. If it is above a certain level, you may qualify but further review is required.

If your home has significant equity, a Chapter 7 would not be advisable because the trustee would want to sell your home. In a Chapter 13, you could be obligated to repay the debt in full. Thus, under those circumstances, it is advisable to negotiate with your creditors as the need arises.
