Re: If my husband files bankruptcy for his business, does that affect me?

One spouse can file for bankruptcy without the other, so your house would not be part of the assets of his bankruptcy estate. If you do not file jointly, however, joint debts (e.g., credit cards in both names or business debts for which you are also liable, such as an office lease guarantee) will not be extinguished by the bankruptcy.

This is general information for discussion purposes. We would need to have an attorney-client relationship for me to give legal advice.
