Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Pennsylvania
My mother passed away 6 yrs ago. Since then my step father lives with me. I have recently been assisting him with paying his bills (he is 84) and noticed he has been using a credit card that only belonged to my mother. His balance is 1200$ and he tells me not to pay it because my mom is deceased. Up to this point he has been paying the minimum so he could continue to use the card. Question is if he should pass then what responsibility will I have for the remainder of the bill?
1 Answer from Attorneys
you have no personal responsibility for the bill. However, you may become the administrator of his estate and if he dies leaving assets it may be your responsibility to pay the estate debts out of estate assets. Post a new question in the wills and estates section http://www.anderslawonline.com
