Generally you file a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy to save your home. You have to make up the mortgage payments that you missed and continue to pay your mortgage but you have up to 60 months to do it. You pay a percentage of your unsecured non-priority debts according to your best efforts, i.e. your ability to pay after your monthly expenses.

It is difficult to answer your question without more information. For example, I would need to review your assets, liabilities, income and expenses to determine if you had a reasonable likelihood of success in this case. It may be that you did not have sufficient income to comply with the plan and make mortgage payments. In that event, Chapter 13 will likely not help you.
It also may be that you were ill advised and were not aware of all your obligations.
I trust this answers your question but feel free to call or E-mail me on a free initial basis.
