Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania
blackmail?
I'll try to keep this as short as possible and to the point. I'm and independent contractor in the fundraising business. I used to have an agreement with other Indp Contractors in my area as well. This past year we parted ways and I was able to continue doing business without their help to their dismay. Last week when I went to place my most important order of the year with my printing company, the printer told me they werent allowed to do business with me and hung up the phone. Apparently my old friends called the printer and worked out a deal with them if they cut me off. Then, the my fellow IC called me up and flat out told me what they did. They offered me $4000 to hand them over my accounts so they could have the product printed and run the accounts themselves and collectng the $20,000 or so in sales they would generate. They knew they had me by the you know what because if I didnt have a printer and didnt run the accounts, I was finished in the business. I didnt take their offer and told them to stop trying to blackmail me. I did find a secondary printer but I am very frustrated at what they did and what they tried to do. They tried to harm myself, my business and my integrity. Anything I can do???

Re: blackmail?
You really should discuss this matter with an attorney. You have a possible law suit and a claim for unfair business practices. It could be expensive to bring such a law suit. The most practical soluion is to get another printer. There are pleaty around to work your own printing deal.
