Cashier Shortages

Can an employer require a cashier to repay cash shortages in Pennsylvania?

Depends upon how much money is missing and how many times money is missing? An employer can always charge the employee with theft, if enough relevant information is available. But in general they may ask you to replenish the amount in question, but you have no responsibility to do so...however, as I previously stated they could A.) Fire you then, and since you probably are an "At Will Employee" you really wouldn't have much of a claim agains the employer or B.) File criminal theft charges against you.

My advice to you is find a different employer, this individual, to put it mildly sounds like an ass.
