Deposit on Trip
Is it legal for---a---Vacation Resort to refuse to refund--an--initial deposit that was made towards---a---weekend getaway if the date was cancelled in advance of the arrival date.

It depends on what the contract says. If it is not clear to you, you may need to retain an attorney to interpret it and advise you whether the terms are enforceable.
