Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania
Use of Former Employers Name
Is it permissible or what are the limitations on referring to a former employer by name (assuming there is no non-compete agreement). For example, can one send post cards to former clients, referring to themself as ''formerly of XYZ Company''?
Note: the client list is easily accessible to the public at minimal cost.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Use of Former Employers Name
It depends. The situation must be looked at in full in order to give an accurate opinion. There are some restrictions based solely on profession while other restrictions are codified in codes of ethics or agreements.
Look at all the paperwork you signed with your prior employer and see what it says. Since you are stating fact you may be able to use the statement. The problem comes in where you may be trading on the fact that you were associated with the former employer, which would not be kosher.
