Re: employment in pennsylvania

You if a company in can fire someone for no reason at all.

Yes: As long as an employee does not have an employment agreement (such as a personal contract or a collective bargaining agreement). Employees in PA have what is called "at will" status which means that they can quit or be fired generally without repercussion for any purpose or no purpose at all.

The only caveat is that an employer may not take adverse action (such as firing) against an employee for any unlawfully discriminatory purpose. For example, if an employer wants to fire a worker so that he can then hire his sister's really stupid child then that would be a legal firing. But if the employer didn't want a [____insert protected class of person_____] around or felt that the person's status caused them to be a less than desirable employee then the employee could be in trouble for firing that employee. Even if the employer found a pretext to fire that protected employee the employee would have a good claim.

Regards,

Roger
