Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

family partnerships

I had an idea to start a business with my father. I did 100 % of the work and he put up some of his other business' as collateral. He tries to tell me that the business is his and I have no right to it. What are my legal rights as an owner? How much of the business do I legally own?

Re: family partnerships

The question is did the two of you have a meeting of the minds to form the business. If so and no written agreement says differently you should be a 1/2 owner of the business. I offer free consultations.

Re: family partnerships

Did you ever enter into a written contract with your father? If so the contract would govern your rights and responsibilities, if not you would need to provide alternative proof of your colaberation in the creation and development of the business. I would recommend retaining an attorney to protect your interests at your earliest convenience.
