Do I Need a to Form a Real Company?

I want to give free consultations to people in my industry. After a couple of years when everyone knows the value I give I will charge for my services. Until I start charging people must I form a company or corporation? Do I need a business license?

Sir, you should form an LLC to protect yourself. This can be done very cheaply and it will protect you and your assets from any potential lawsuits. You will probably also need a business license. What kind of consultations are you providing, and in what industry? Are you providing anything tangible to the customers? A business license may or may not be necessary, depending upon what your business is.
