It depends on the contract that you and the salon owner signed. If you signed a "non-compete" agreement, then you can not compete your original salon's clients. If you didn't sign an agreement, then it depends on general "fairness". Generally, you can notify your customers that you are moving to another salon. You are generally not permitted to speak negatively about your former salon when trying to convince your clients to move to your new salon. Clients are not obligated to move with you or stay with the original salon. The law permits the clients to choose their salon. The law encourages healthy, fair competition among salons and hairdressers. Without a contract, generally, clients are not the property of the salon, but rather the hairdresser.
