Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania
Invoice for service billed a year later
I need to know what law professionals recommend in this situation.
I just got an invoice from a freelance camera person who taped an interview for me last summer for a documentary. At the time he said, ''Don't worry about it'' and did not send an invoice. I had him do another interview with a much more expensive camera and I said I want to pay you for this. I asked if $200 was OK. He said yes and I sent him the check. Now he has ''suddenly found'' this invoice he meant to send me for the earlier taped interview(put last year's date on it)and this invoice is for $1500!. Mind you the one I paid $200 for was and HDTV camera (his). The earlier interview was a Mini DV Camera (his). My LLC is based in Pennsylvania, he is in NYC and did the interviews in NYC.
I have not responded to his email with this $1500 which is of course because he needs money. I would like any advice on this because I have never had this happen before. Is there any precedent for the payment of the $200 for the other interview?
Thank you very much.

Re: Invoice for service billed a year later
It would appear you have an implied at law contract. No amount was discussed for the earlier service. Usually in those circumstance a reasonable amount might be implied. If the services performed were similar then it may be implied that there is an agreement that$200.00 for the second project may sufficent since he took it without objection. In any event one usually has four years to sue for a contract. Since the service took place in New York Ny law would govern.
