Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

Judgement for failure to pay credit card

I have not paid any amount due on several credit cards for six months due to a conflict with a business partner. All business credit cards were guaranteed by me personally, but my partner maxed out every one of them without informing me, using my SS#, mothers maiden name, etc.

My question, therefore, has to do with a judgement against me and whether or not the credit card company can seek to recoup its money by a) taking monies from my teacher retirement from Pennsylvania b) garnishing my wages where I am presently teaching in the state of Maryland or c) placing a lein against my home, which is jointly owed by my wife and me.

Re: Judgement for failure to pay credit card

Except for certain exceptions, like child support, retirement funds are generally untouchable. I do not know Maryland law off the top of my head but it is likely that your wages could be garnished. Finally, it may be possible to have a lien placed on your property once a judgment has been rendered.

You may want to speak with an attorney. To put pressure on your business partner.
