Is it legal to raise the retail price of an item before putting it on sale?

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. Generally retailers are free to set or revise their prices upwards or downwards. So, in theory, a retailer could raise the price of something, then at some point lower the price by putting it on sale. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
