Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

Is LegalZoom a workable choice for filing the 501(c)3 application of, and granting legal existence to, my startup nonprofit?

I've used them before for my for-profit to get incorporated, and I had a good experience, but I'm seeing lots of complaints online.

Also, I know a lot of people seem to answer this with "It's better to hire a lawyer." Well, yes; yes it absolutely is. Unfortunately, I have nowhere near that much money -- the best quote I could get for *just* articles of incorporation (and I got this quote at a discount from a friend) was $800, whereas legal zoom is offer slightly under $1100 for everything but the bylaws, plus a manual of all things non-profit to help me write those. So a lawyer, while preferable, is not really an option.

And again, to emphasize, this is *just* for the 501(c)3 application -- I'm not expecting them to handle all our Legal Stuff from now on :)

Thanks!

Legal Zoom is not a substitute for a lawyer! Don't make that mistake! Hire a real lawyer to help you! (Not saying that Legal Zoom is bad; but you need to spend the money and feel comfortable that everything was done right and all of your questions were answered.)
