Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

Meeting Etiquette

I was in a meeting with a new client. At the end of the meeting, some events occurred which have led me to believe that he had at least one person listening in to the conversation on the speaker phone in his office without my knowledge. Is this legal? Is this ethical? While I am not concerned about what I said in the meeting, but it has made me uneasy to say the least.

Re: Meeting Etiquette

You asked about a person listening to a conversation on speakerphone.

In PA it is unlawful for a person to electronically intercept a conversation unless there is consent from all parties to the conversation. Interception or recording cannot be done by any party without all other parties' consent. The only exception would be a situation where there otherwise was no expectation of privacy.

Regards,

Roger
