Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

Project Bid - Intercepting Communications?

Hi:

My friend sent an associate and myself (Computer Science and Business Students) information about an open bid going on with a computer company for programming. Upon receiving the information, I called the company placing the bid and they sent me the proposal. It's turning out that my friend found this information about the bid while working at his job -- through emails and other sources.

He's already been fired from his job, and I have withdrawn my bid that was based on the information. I knew that he worked for the company in question, but I wasn't aware that he was improperly using this information without consent of his boss etc.

Should I be protecting myself here? What are the possible sanctions that I could face? We've already retracted the bid and apologized for the one person's actions.

If you are cooperative and truthful everything should be fine. I would reccomend an attorney who can negotiate immunity agreements with the grand jury if necessary to protect your interests. My sugested reply to investigators wishing to question you would be " I would be happy to cooperate with you, please contact my attorney to make the arrangements." I offer free consultations.
