Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

I run a small selfstarted side computer repair business. Someone came to me that lived out of state with 2 broken computers. I repaired them and called person when they were done. Person left town without calling me back and settling payment for services rendered. I had the equipment for 3 weeks and nobody called me. i sold the equipment to get payment for services. can this person take me to small claims court? will they have a case?

As a Franchise Attorney I can say the normal practice is to sell goods that are left over 30 or 60 days, but it ultimately depends on the stated policy. What is your stated (written) policy? Also, where is the stated jurisdiction and venue - their city, state or your city, state? In a worst case, they have a claim for the value of their computers and you have a counterclaim for the repair charges. If you don't have good paperwork in place now, get it done so if this happens again (and it probably will), you'll be prepared. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
