Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

I am starting my own hair salon

I have worked in a salon for 8 years. i never signed any papers saying i could not take my clients with me. My plan is to send all my clients a letter saying that i am leaving to start my own business. I am giving them my phone number so they can contact me if they want to set up a appointment at my new place. I want to know if there are any legal issues that i might run into.

Re: I am starting my own hair salon

You asked about taking clients with you from a hair salon.

As a rule you can solicit within reason. You may not solicit while you are actually working at the salon. You probably can not use addresses that you obtain through the salon's system, but you may solicit using any addresses of clients you have developed on your own.

Giving clients a business card while you're at your current salon is sort of tacky and may be actionable.

Roger
