Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania
Vebal contracts
My husband is part owner in a family business. I am a teacher. In April 2006, we had a child. Members of my husband's business verbal proposed that I should not return to work in the fall 2006 o that I could stay home with our child. They verbally agreed that my husband could work overtime to make up for the loss of pay because I was no longer working. I quit my job because of this agreement. Now, they are refusing to pay me husband for the extra hours of work. He is putting on 10 to 15 hours a week in addition to the 40 hours he works. What can we do to get payment form the company? His brother is in charge of the finances but refuses to provide us with documentation. What action can we take? My husband refers to the bi-laws of the company but get nowhere with his brother.

Re: Vebal contracts
If you are willing to litigate this issue with the company consult a local attorney to bring an action to enforce the contract.
A verbal contract is fine IF you can prove to the court/jury that it exists.
Good luck to you and your family
