Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania
Over two weeks after purchasing a car, the dealer calls and tells me they made a mistake on the taxes because the state I moved to will not allow a tax break for my trade because it was titled in the state where I purchased the new vehicle. I asked them to make sure because I am military and could title it in any state. They now tell me its too late and I owe them $422 more dollars. I still do not have a title or registration. So can they make me pay this?

Tell them it was their mistake, and they can refund you 100% and charge you nothing, or pay the taxes, their call. Tell them if they do not send you your paperwork, you will report them to motor vehicles (they may be able to help you, so call and ask), the police (at least file a police incident report, because the police may tell you it is a civil matter, not criminal), the military for taking advantage of a serviceman (may discourge sales to other servicemen, and they may not want that), to PA tax office, call your congressman and senators. They made a deal, they should be stuck with it, otherwise, you will end up spending $422 more than you had agreed to, and you may have walked away from the deal for that $422. Either they are scum, or they just made a mistake, but it is not fair for you to pay for their mistake. If they say they will split it with you, it shows they are not complete asses, but they can afford it better than you can, and personally, I'd tell them to pay it all and get me my paperwork (you PAID them to process yoru paperwork, and they are supposed to do it within s couple weeks - period!) ASAP, of you will start making calls, and filing complaints.
