Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

I am having some work on my car done and the person doing the work has had the car since November of 2010. Its been going on 7-8 months and the work is not done and the service has been paid for in full. I keep getting excuses on why the car is not done and it keeps dragging on and on. What can i do to get my car completed for the service that was paid for as soon as possible?

The Pennsylvania law requires that your car is repaired in 24 hours after it is delivered to the shop. It seems, based on what you described, that the shop has violated the law. You have several options:

1. send the manager a written letter with a demand that he/she complete the repairs in 24 hours or face consequences. When you mail the letter, get a certificate of deposit from the post office. It costs $1.15. If the shop does not respond or complete the repairs, then proceed to option 2 or 3.

2. contact the state attorney general and file complaint regarding this possible violation. Linda Kelly is our attorney general. Her office's website is http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/

3. hire an attorney to file a lawsuit. I believe the statute dictates a certain amount in damages.

4. you can also contact your local state representative. He or she may have more resources and options for you.
