Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

Working 2 jobs

I work full time as an instructor at a beauty school and I also work part time as a hairstylist. My question is can my part time employer ask or require me to call off my full time job to attend a meeting or training session. The compensation is not even close to be equal and of course my part time employer will only pay me time of training and my hourly wage.

Yes the y can ask. An employer can even require. Then it's your choice. Pennsylvania is an "employment at will" state. Because of this an employer may terminate a person for any reason or no reason at all, unless there is a discriminatory motive. In your situation it sounds like they are perfectly reasonable in making the request/demand.

But since hairstylists have a clientele that is usually personall to them they have mobility. You should be able to replace the part-time position with little effort and bring your clients with you.

If I can be of further assistance on this or any other legal matter please contact me at [email protected].
