Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

Yearly raises

My husband has worked 34 years for one employer. He only receives a weekly check, There are no health benefits or pension plan. This employer does not give my husband a yearly raise. He has gone seven years without a raise. Is this legal? I worked for a non-union firm, but we received a yearly raise. My husband thinks because he is not union, his employer can doe this. My husband is the supervisior of a small woodworking shop and he runs this business. I cannot believe that this can be legal?

Re: Yearly raises

You worked for a, for lack of a better term, 'nicer' employer than your husband works for. So you husband's employer may not be nice, but why do you believe that he is treating your husband unlawfully? Employer wants to employ labor at the cheapest cost, and your husband wants to be employed at the highest wage--but your husband needs help with his negotiating skills if he hasn't had a raise in 7 years. I don't see a claim on the very limited facts posted, but you should see an attorney to see if other facts may be present which would give you a cause of action. The lawyer could also help him negotiate a raise.
