Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Pennsylvania
Cell Phone Bill
The ex b/f had an agreement with a friend for cell phones. One was mine, which he paid the bill monthly. When we broke up the girl who has the contract claims I owe her over 1000.00 for phone charges. She is now suing me. I have yet to even see my bill. Am I required to pay for these charges? I did use the phone up intill the ex called it off and I figured he wasn't paying the bill. I signed nothing. I feel she is suing the wrong person. The phone was given to me. The ex is now dating her sister so I guess that's why is isn't being sued.

Re: Cell Phone Bill
Who is she? What I mean is, how is it that "she" has a contract with your ex for cell phones? You mean she works for the cell phone company?
Before suing you for collection, she has to have sent you the bill, sent you notice of collection. She had to advise you in writing that you had 30 days to dispute the bill. These would be violations of the federal collection law, worth, coincidentally, $1,000 to you if you sue her.
In addition, obviously she can't sue somebody she doesn't have a contract with. You're right, she should be suing whoever's on the contract.
