Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Pennsylvania
Company Black Mails Individual After 11 Years
Hello my name is bobby brown and i feel i am being blackmailed by Quad Graphics in Fairfield,PA.
Today July 21, 2010 I applied for a job at their local plant and successfully completed paper work and all drug tests & was told I could start Sunday night July 25th. The following day at around 8:30a.m. I get a phone call phone the employer saying they cant hire me on due to being fired 11 years before and not telling them. I feel I am being discrimated against after 7 years has gone by. Isn't there some type of law against this.

Bobby,
No. They can refuse to hire or fire you for any reason or no reason as long as it is not an improper reason, such as race, gender, ethnicity. There is no right to be hired or to demand a job.
Why were you fired 11 years ago? Did the application ask about it? Depending on the reason, the employer may or may not want to hire you and you should have honestly disclosed it even if the application did not specifically ask.
However, you need an employment lawyer, not a civil rights attorney. I do not handle employment law.
