Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Pennsylvania
e-mail confidentiality
I sent an e-mail complaining about a little league coach, who was a local policeman, to a Township Supervisor Treasurer. This man forwarded my e-mail to the local police, without my consent, and the police photocopied it and handed it out to the little league committee, in hopes of discovering who sent the e-mail. did this Township Supervisor violate the Privacy Act?

Re: e-mail confidentiality
And what do you think the Privacy Act covers? Do you really think there is a statute saying that if you think something should be private, and you send an e-mail to another person, then that person violates the Privacy Act if they forward it? Well, that ain't the privacy act--and if it were, then the Courts would simply shut down from overcrowding. The Privacy Act establishes certain controls over what personal information is collected by the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT (not regular people) and how it is used. No personal information is involved, the federal govt is not involved, and this information was not compiled, you sent it out to people.
