Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Pennsylvania

Harrassment and defamation of character

My son who is 17,girlfriend's parents do not like my son. Several months ago my son was in a car with some friends when they were pulled over by the police, one of the boys in the car had drugs on him. All the boys were taken to the police station and searched. My son had no knowledge of the drugs and had nothing on him and was sent home, no charges filed.Since this incident the girls mother has been telling people that my son uses heroin. The girls mother works as a nurse at the school my son attends. She has called other parents and told them lies about my son , she's even telling other students these things. My son was so upset about the rumors she is spreading he became severly depressed and was hospitalized for 3 days, and is now on medication. Is there anything legally I can do too stop her
