High School Coaches

Can a school board make it a law that a parent can not be hired for a varsity coaching position. Isn't this discrimination.

Re: High School Coaches

Sure it is discrimination. It's just not ACTIONABLE discrimination. You can't be discriminated against based upon race, religion, gender, national origin, or other protected classes. You probably can be discriminated against if you are a parent.

Re: High School Coaches

if the proposed regulation applies to all people equally, the government can make any regulation they want as long as it is "rationally related to a legitimate government purpose."

as long as your school board treats all the parents the same, and they can show their legitimate government purpose, the school board can make this kind of regulation.

this may be unclear. let me give you an example. say the air force says that you can't wear any head coverings if you are a pilot because of the helmet technology. well, all the jewish people who wear kepahs complain that the law discriminates against orthodox jews. the courts say the air force can do this. how is that so? 1. the air force applies this rule to everyone, jews and non jews. 2. the legitmate purpose is that head gear interferes with the technology in the helmets.

email me if you have any questions or need any help.
