Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Pennsylvania
Layoff Notice
I am a hourly manager for office depot. We were informed about two weeks that our store was going to be closed. They stated that tentativly the last day we will be workin is the 31st of this month, but have not confirmed this date will not be earlier or later. They have not offered to transfer me to an other location near by. About 14 other employees at this location are being layed off as well. Is there anything illegal about what this company is doing? If so what can we do about it?

Is there anything illegal about closing a store? No. They are not obligated to keep you on.
