Can a person who has had a stroke but has been deemed lucid make a living will while in a stroke rehab facility?

I am not a medical doctor. I don't know what part of the brain was affected because of the stroke and if the doctor feels that the person is mentally competent to be making decisions like this.
A living will is not a will - it is just a directive to one's doctors that one does not want to be kept alive on a machine, or have food and water withheld.
